Augustana Arts and the American Guild of Organists, Denver Rocky Mountain Chapter, partner again to bring concert organist Chelsea Chen back to Augustana Lutheran. Award-winning organist and composer Chelsea Chen captured the hearts of all back in 2005 when, as a rising star, she clearly won the Augustana Arts/Reuter National Undergraduate Organ Competition. A Fulbright Scholar and graduate of both Juilliard and Yale, Chen’s playing has been described as “stunning” by the Los Angeles Times. This luminary talent challenges the boundaries of traditional organ music, filling the space with “color and volume.” Chen’s own compositions, inspired and based on Asian folk songs, are the perfect counterpart to the romantics, post-romantics, and moderns that organ fans know and love.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students and children. Discount ticket purchases must be made at least two days prior to the concert. Discount prices will not be available the door.

Saturday morning Workshop: Chelsea Chen will be presenting a workshop on Saturday morning, October 22, 2016, beginning with refreshments at 9:00 am. The workshop, titled “Expanding the Organ Repertoire through Chamber Music” will commence at 9:30 and finish at 11:00. This workshop is free to AGO members, non-members $25. Please register for this workshop (even if you are an AGO member). That way we will know the number of people who will be attending.

Parking: Augustana has two large parking lots, one on the north side and one on the south side of the church. The south lot can be accessed from Fairfax Street south of Alameda, and the north lot can be accessed by either Fairfax or Alameda. Parking is also available in the lot north of the Jewish Community Center, off Alameda. Because of the popularity of this concert, early arrival is advised
